Reasons Why Memory Foam Bed Toppers Make A Difference

Have you been spending your nights tossing and turning as you try to get a comfortable night's sleep? You've probably seen all those luxury memory foam mattresses which often cost far more than the actual bedstead. If your finances can't stretch to such pricey luxury then what about a memory foam bed topper instead?

Using memory foam has several advantages over other types of bed toppers. Not only does it give you a good layer of comfort shielding you from your old, and probably lumpy, mattress that's been making you so uncomfortable at night, but it also has those body hugging magical properties which is why it is so popular.

Memory foam is viscoelastic which means that when it warms up from your body heat it softens up slightly. It’s this that allows your body shape to mould into the topper. This gives the body extra support as you sleep. Normally certain points of your body will press against a mattress more than other parts of the body. This can cause pressure points and soreness. This doesn't happen with memory foam as these areas simply mould deeper into the topper than the rest of the body, easing the stress on your body's pressure points.

This means, of course, that memory foam bed toppers are ideal for anyone who suffers from back or joint pain. The dense foam helps to support the spine in its natural alignment. The topper conforms to your back, not your back to your mattress as it does at the moment.

Memory foam toppers can also be good for light sleepers. If your partner likes to move around in their sleep a lot, the movement of the mattress going up and down can rouse those of us who wake very easily. Luckily by using memory foam toppers this shouldn't be an issue as they are so dense there is very little transfer of motion. In any case as bodies mould comfortably into the foam you'll probably find that your partner doesn't feel the need to move about so much when asleep.

But you don't have to suffer from aches and pains or be a light sleeper to derive benefits from such toppers. They simply feel comfortable to lie on. And when you're comfortable you'll sleep better and longer and so wake up in the morning all bright eyed and refreshed.

It has to be said that memory foam bed toppers can be expensive when compared to other types of toppers but if looked after properly a good quality memory foam topper can last up to ten years, which makes them a good investment and that's up to 10 years of good quality sleep. Just make sure you read the manufacture’s advice on caring for your topper to maximise its lifespan.
